Restoration of historic sites on the territory of the mausoleum will begin in 2019

OQSYZ.The First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan A.Mamin and the Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Arystanbek Muhamediuly during their trip to Turkestan visited the Khan Mosque, the Khan Ordasy and the site of ancient settlement Kultobe, as well as the Zheti ata,Takiya, Darbaza and Musalla gates of the State Historical and Cultural Reserve Museum “Azret Sultan”.


In order to implement the program article “Seven Sides of the Great Steppe” and popularize the city as the spiritual capital of the Turkic world and preserve the unique appearance of historical sites, the Ministry of Culture and Sports prepared a project to identify and restore the historical appearance of medieval historical and cultural heritage sites on 88.7 hectares city ​​of Turkestan.
In order to comply with all international standards and requirements for the development of the project, leading scientists and international experts will be involved, primary data, scientific and archival data will be studied, all presented reconstructions and archaeological work will be carried out in coordination with representatives of UNESCO. This was announced by the Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Arystanbek Mukhamediuly.

“In these works, we accepted renowned international experts and carefully studied the experience of preserving and restoring world-famous historical complexes and museums of Israel, Spain, Great Britain, India, Turkey, Uzbekistan and other states that correspond to the concept of the Azret Sultan museum-reserve”.
The project took into account the best international experience in restoring historical complexes that are UNESCO sites and host hundreds of millions of tourists every year” the minister said.


Mosque “Zhuma Meshiti” of 40 mosques that have survived to our days. On the building of the mosque mihrab planned to complete the restoration, dismantling of built-in fences, restoration of wells and landscaping.
As part of the restoration work – the underground mosque “Hiluet”, it is planned to strengthen the supporting structures and foundations of underground structures, to restore the interior spaces and to improve the adjacent territory.
In order to restore the panoramic view of the territory from the “Zhetі Ata” gate to the mausoleum, one of the central main streets was reconstructed, as well as the “Darbaza”, “Musalla” and “Zhetі Ata” gates.
The project will recreate the spirit, life and color of the medieval winter Khan’s headquarters, which proves the historical and cultural potential, as well as the significance of the ancient settlement Turkestan as a major political center of the Kazakh Khanate.
The site Kultobe will be an open-air museum. With the New Year in the region they plan to begin construction of objects of the reserve-museum.
